What's Happens During an HVAC Tune Up?
You might be wondering what happens during a heating and cooling system tune up. Ever HVAC company handles them differently. Here is what to expect during an HVAC maintenance with Miller's Heating & Air.
First, you will get a text message and email notification when your HVAC technician is on his or her way. The text and email will include their name and their picture so you will know who will be arriving to your home shortly.
Your technician will introduce himself or herself and explain what unit they will work on first. If they are working inside, they will wear shoe covers to avoid bringing dirt in to your home.
The type of work they will complete depends on what type of HVAC system you have. If you have a ducted air conditioning system, your maintenance will be different then a ductless mini-split. Below are general items that the technician will complete depending on system type.
In every case, your service technician will make sure your system is working properly. They will complete a digital diagnostic checklist. They will go over this checklist with you so you know how your system is performing. Parts may need to be replaced in order for the system to work optimally.
In addition, your tech will perform a safety inspection on your HVAC system. This is important for the safety of you and your family. HVAC systems can be dangerous.
In the case of a cracked heat exchanger, it can be deadly. When we come across cracked heat exchangers, we are required to red tag the system and shut it down. Carbon monoxide can enter your home through a cracked heat exchanger. Carbon monoxide is extremely dangerous to breathe in and can lead to death.
